war 1 he joined the germans worker party and became the leader of the NSDAP in 1921. He attempted a coup détat known as the Beer Hall Putsch, in Munich. The failed coup resulted in Hitler's imprisonment, during which time he wrote wrote a book called mein kampf (my struggle).He was released in 1924 and gained some support. His aim was yo establish a new order of absolute nazi german hegemony in continental europe.He oversaw the rearmament of Germany and the invasion of Poland by the Wehrmacht in September 1939, which led to the outbreak of World War II in Europe.Under hitlers direction in 1941 german forces and their european allies occupied most of europe and north africa . the allied armies defeated the german army. hitlers raciallity motivated policies lead to the death of 11 million people 6 million were jews . In the final days of war during the battle of berlin in 1945 he married eva braun and two days later they both commited suicide to avoid the capture of the red army.
